From the origin stories of Omaha's businesses and buildings to the developments shaping its future, if it's part of Omaha's story, it's fair game.

This weekend my son and I got a chance to check out Kipp, the new indoor play park that bills itself as the city’s largest.

Located in a former Shopko at 14445 West Center Road, it is similar to Urban Air, geared toward younger children in a calmer, quieter environment. Inside it has a three-level playground, trampolines, mini zip lines, a turf zone with hills and slides, and Kid City, which includes things such as a hospital and market. It also has a small arcade for the video game junkies. There was more than enough to keep my son busy for a couple of hours.

While parents are encouraged to join in the fun, what sets Kipp apart is its parents’ lounge, which has coffee and snacks available for purchase. I found it to be a good place to catch my breath, but I found other parents using the space to work or read.

In addition to the regular general admission, it has a monthly membership, hosts a summer camp, and is available for home school play sessions and birthday parties.

Next time your kid needs to blow off some steam, drop in, sit back, relax, and enjoy a cup of coffee. Or join them on the playground.

Kipp is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. all week long. For more, check out its website at https://kippomaha.com/.
