While doing research for an upcoming exploration of Hotel Indigo, I took the opportunity to check out its speakeasy: Anna’s Place. Named in honor of Omaha’s “Queen of the Underworld”, the hidden cocktail lounge opened in 2022. The entrance is tucked away just past the front desk near the lobby. If the lights are red, you need to wait until they turn green at which point you can press the doorbell for entry.

Once inside you’ll find a dark, cozy environment decked out in red lights with comfortable seating and decorated with sketches of burlesque dancers from local artist Watie White. The menu offers several varieties of Old Fashioned’s among other options. Anna’s Place is known for its reliance on local and house-made ingredients and its pop-up cocktail events. Each has a different theme such as the upcoming Season of the Witch on November 30th. It will feature four drinks inspired by pagan and witchcraft traditions. Tickets can be purchased on its website.

Located at 1804 Dodge Street in Omaha’s Historic Red-Light District, Anna’s Place is one two downtown establishments named in honor of Anna Wilson, the other being Wilson & Washburn.
