Last year I wrote about one of the most exciting projects in midtown: the massive mixed-use 37 West Farnam building in Blackstone. In addition to 159 residential apartments, the building has eight commercial spaces, one of which is now occupied by Revival House.

The new tiki lounge features an abundance of tropical plants, wild wallpaper, neon lights, and outdoor and open-air seating, and is unique in this area. In an area filled with great bars, it sets itself apart and has become one of my favorite stops in the area.

Revival House is owned by Flagship Restaurant Group. Its website claims that the lounge is “rediscovering a lost art and honoring those who came before us by marrying the techniques of classic exotic drink culture to the current trend of cocktail innovation.” Revival House also has a location in Des Moines.

All of its cocktails have a bit of an island twist on them, including my favorite, the Envy Old Fashioned, which along with its namesake bourbon has brown sugar and tiki bitters. It’s a different take on the classic cocktail but I enjoy the variation. The bar offers other popular options including a margarita, mai tai, martini, and mule, as well as beer, wine, and some alcohol-free drinks.

In Omaha, Revival House is located in Blackstone along the future streetcar line at 3737 Farnam Street. If you haven’t paid a visit to the neighborhood, which is in the heart of streetcar construction, it’s worth a visit, not just for Revival House, though it shouldn’t be missed, but also for the other great bars and restaurants nearby. While parking can be a bit of a challenge, the parking garage inside this building helps.

You’re not going to wax poetic about the dearly missed Mai Tai Lounge after stepping inside Revival House. Laka Lono Rum Club, housed in the basement of an Old Market building, is most similar to that experience. Having said that, Revival House hits the mark with its combination of top-notch drinks, airiness, and brightness.
