Omaha Exploration

Welcome to Omaha Exploration! My name is Patrick Wyman and I am the founder of this page and its own social media accounts. I was born in Omaha and have lived in the area most of my life.

An aspiring journalist while in school, I’ve always loved writing. As I grew older, I developed a passion for history starting with genealogy which eventually extended to the places that surround me. Combining these two interests, I launched Omaha Exploration in August 2023.

My writing style can be attributed to my experience as a journalism student writing for The North Star, student newspaper of Omaha North High School and The Daily Nebraskan, student newspaper for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

While I have a full-time job and a family that keep me busy, OE is a hobby that I am passionate about. In order to tell these stories, I use a variety of sources including newspaper archives, magazine articles, census records, city directories, social media posts and others. I personally write each and every article relying on what’s already been printed rather than interviews to tell the story. I want to emphasize that I am not a historian nor am I a journalist. I am human and I make mistakes. This is a one-man show so I kindly ask that you inform me of errors so that I may correct them.
