I recently shared the history of the former Salvation Army building at 26th and Center Streets. Its days have long been numbered as the structures have sat vacant and continues to deteriorate. After a failed attempt to redevelop the area in 2022, Clarity Development is back with another proposal.

The proposal calls for the demolition of the buildings, one of which was originally built as the home for Miller Cereal Mills in 1917. Clarity will also develop a lot just north of 26th and Center Streets next to Concrete Supply, Inc.

The development consists of a mix of multi-family residential and townhouses. The northern undeveloped lot will contain three six-unit townhouse buildings with garages. The former Salvation Army buildings will be demolished to make way for two apartment buildings containing 160 units in addition to surface parking and a parking garage. As a part of the plan, 25th Avenue will be extended from Center Street north to Hickory.
