The reinvention of old bars continues along Leavenworth. In recent years, the old Bud Olson’s Bar reopened as Secret Park and Marylebone as True American. This time it’s the transformation of the former VFW Post 247 at 3302 Leavenworth Street.

In its space, The Meadowlark Lounge opened in the brick, one-story building that had long been home to the VFW. Located at the northwest corner of 33rd and Leavenworth Street, it sits just west of Alderman’s.

Described as an “upscale neighborhood dive bar”, it serves specialty cocktails, spirits and offers a curated wine selection. Among its specialties are the Carajillo, Hibiscus Paloma, Espresso Martini and the Recession Bag.

Like other bars along this stretch of Leavenworth, The Meadowlark does not offer food but at some point, in the future, it will host food trucks.

The decor inside the popular neighborhood bar offers an eclectic retro vibe with garage doors facing Leavenworth – a nice touch for a bar that doesn’t have an outdoor patio. For entertainment, you’ll find a pool table, dart boards and a few televisions. The variety of furniture fits the vibe with everything form cozy booths, high tops, seating at the bar, chairs and couches. The basement serves as a party room.
