After a deal to build a new stadium near Gallup fell through, Union Omaha today announced plans to play in a proposed new stadium north of Cuming Street on land that belongs to Union Pacific. The 6,500 seat stadium will be the centerpiece of a 20-acre mixed use development next to the developing Millwork Commons which includes The Ashton, Hot Shops, Dizzy Mule apartments and future boutique hotel.

The initial vision for the development includes 500 residences some of which will be occupied by players of Union Omaha. It also includes retail, restaurants offices and green space around the soccer complex. The stadium will eventually host a new women’s soccer team and feature community events. It will share parking and other amenities with the nearby Charles Schwab Field and CHI Health Center.

The City of Omaha is in the process of buying the land from U.P. and will own the $114M open-air stadium. Union Omaha would then lease the stadium and manage the property. If all goes well, construction on the new stadium would start in 2026 and be ready for the 2028 season.

Since its founding in 2019, Union Omaha has played at Werner Park. The professional soccer club is a member of the Division 3 USL League One. Omaha has finished first three times and won the league championship in 2021 and 2024. The Owls will be playing at Creighton University’s Morrison Stadium in downtown Omaha for the 2026 season and possibly 2027.
