If you have younger kids or just want to enjoy a seasonal, non-spooky Halloween event, consider Zootacular. It’s the newly reimagined Halloween event at Henry Doorly Zoo.

From 6:30-9:30, children received a trick-or-treat bag to collect candy from various stations spread throughout event space. While strolling along the pathways, you encounter bright lights and performances by Omaha Circus Arts with fire dancers, Joe Cole’s Magic Show and Omaha Street Percussion.

Spaces that were open included Kingdom of the Night in the lower level of the Desert Dome, Scott Aquarium with a glow dance party, Wild Kingdom Pavillion with face painting and the Durham Tree Tops Restaurant with a build-a-broom workshop and a meet and greet with the Salem Sisters from Hocus Pocus. A bonus for the adults was the Halloween Hideaway speakeasy in Durham Lodge and Birthday House.

Food was available at the Sea Turtle Cafe, Plaza Cafe and Snack Stop with a few new options including Vanilla Dirt & Worms, Fried Apple Nachos, Pumpkin-shaped Pretzels, Caramel Apple Cider and Swamp Juice.

For those that are interested, Zootacular has three more events: Saturday, Sunday and Thursday the 30th.
