New to the Nebraska craft beer scene is Ashland Brewing Company. Located at the southwest corner of Highways 6 and 66, the brewery just opened its doors this summer.

The story of the Uryasz family in Ashland dates back to 1969 when they bought a cabin that had become a gathering spot ever since. That cabin provided the inspiration for the 15,000 sq ft, two-story brewpub.

Tim Uryasz sought to capitalize on the location between between Omaha and Lincoln. In addition to increased tourism, Ashland is the second fastest growing city in Nebraska. In addition to the brewery, Ashland Brewing Company has a kitchen, four pickle ball courts (two indoors and two outdoors), covered patio, green space, yard games, fire pits and a rooftop deck with a separate bar.

The establishment offers something for everyone with seven of its own beers on tap, a full bar with specialty cocktails, wine and a kitchen that serves appetizer, burgers, sandwiches, salads, pizza and a kids menu. The space is both kid and dog friendly and also has private dining/meeting space and will host live music on occasion.

Prior to opening the brewpub, the family first attempted to open a restaurant downtown in 2007 but a fire in 2009 destroyed it and a few other buildings nearby. The wait seems to have been worthwhile as Ashland Brewing Company just outside of downtown has become an extremely popular meeting spot. The Uryasz’s see it as a way to honor the history of their family in addition to their love for the community.
