The first photo below is from 1876 and is looking northwest from about 9th and Pacific Street in the Forest Hills neighborhood. The long building in the center right is the Union Railroad train station that was nicknamed “the Cowshed”. A few blocks north can be seen the spire of the old St. Philomena’s Church at 9th and Harney Street. The whole area was a combination of houses and warehouses.

Below is a similar view from 2024. It’s likely that none of the buildings in the above photo exist any more. Jobber’s Canyon is long gone having been built around the turn of the 20th century and demolished in 1989 to make way for Conagra’s campus. A portion of the Conagra’s campus was later demolished after the company moved its headquarters to Chicago in 2016.

What remains of its campus can be seen on the middle far right near the train tracks. Both the former Burlington (now KETV) and Union Stations (now Durham Museum) can be seen on either side of the tracks with the 10th Street viaduct running along the western front side of each building. 9th Street which dead ends at the Union Pacific building in the 1876 picture dead ends at Forest Ave before it reaches the apartments. The Dahlman Flats is the U-shaped brick building to the east that was once Grace University.
