One of my favorite winter activities is sledding – especially when its not bone chilling cold. Before we check out some of the best sledding hills in and near Omaha, let’s take a brief look at the its history:
Sledding has been around forever whether it be for transportation or as a recreational activity. The first sleds were made of animal hide, wood and bones. The first documented recreational sledding events were held in Russia in the 1650s. In the mid-1800s, English tourists in Switzerland used delivery sleds for entertainment.
If you’re looking for some of the best sledding hills nearby, check out the list and map I put together. So next time the snow starts falling, dust off the sled or inflate the tube and check some of these places out!
